He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds
It is forever a source of comfort that the Lord of the universe is our father. He is our friend and the world is our adversary. The adversary pretends to befriend us and then leads us away from our true King who loves us abundantly and has on his heart that which benefits us most.
We get hurt. Whether it be of our own doing or by that of those around us, we are bound to get hurt in this fallen world. What can we do? Can we avoid this hurt? Sadly, not at all. Even if we kept everyone at a distance in this life, the pain we would cause ourselves from that very estrangement would be heartbreak enough. Still, most of our pain comes directly from those around us. More often than not, it comes from friends and family. This is a heartbreak unbearable and hard to heal.
But the Lord is the great caretaker of all our wounds. He is able to restore us from the greatest of pains. He can give us the capability of forgiveness and, yes, even love.
