About

The Rev’d Jacob A. Davis

I am a writer, artist, and minister in the Christian tradition. I’ve been on a long journey for over twenty years, searching out “the ancient paths… where the good way is” (Jeremiah 6:16).

Originally from the small mountain town of Ellijay, Georgia, I have made my home in Louisville, Kentucky for over a decade. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English from Reinhardt University (2006) and a Master of Arts in Theology and Arts from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (2010).  I have served a couple of Baptist churches in various capacities over the years, including as a youth pastor and pastoral intern. I am now an active founding member of Grace Anglican Church in Louisville, where I serve as Assisting Clergy for Pastoral Care, having been ordained as a priest in the Anglican Diocese of Christ Our Hope, part of the Anglican Church in North America. I am currently completing the two-year Selah Certificate in Spiritual Direction program through Leadership Transformations and am launching Ancient Paths Spiritual Direction.

I have had a lifelong passion for engaging the arts and for pursuing great craftsmanship in whatever medium I am presented with, from charcoal and oil paints to words on paper. As a writer, I have contributed to marketing materials for my workplaces, as well as contributing devotional writings to various websites. My artwork has been displayed in exhibits at both the Georgia State Capitol and the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

I currently serve as Editor at Anglican Compass and as Assisting Clergy for Pastoral Care at Grace Anglican Church. In my spare time, I can be found perusing Louisville’s eclectic creative and cultural scene and exploring the intersection of the arts, theology, and liturgy. I enjoy writing, charcoal drawing, and discovering great literature, art, film, theater, and music.

    Rev. Davis

Hello, my name is Holden Wynn. I noticed that you’ve made a transition from being baptist to being Anglican. I was wondering what brought you to that point of transition and what that was like. You see, I am also a graduate of SBTS but in my last couple years there I began to have doubts about Baptist theology, and have been very interested in Anglicanism. I haven’t fully committed one way or the other, I remain here in Louisville as a member of a baptist church and am working through some of my theological concerns with my elders. If you were ever available I’d love to be able to talk with you about your own theological journey, that I might be able to glean some insights about where I’m at and where the Lord may potentially be leading me. I imagine you’re an extraordinarily busy man with all your responsibilities, so please let me know any times that would work for you and I’ll make it work. I hope this finds you well, and I hope to hear back from you.

    Grace and Peace, Holden Wynn
